WSS Redpoint advises the Aachen-based startup IonKraft on a financing round by M Ventures (strategic investment fund of the Merck Group), the TechVision Fonds (TVF) and the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF).

IonKraft was founded in 2021 as a spin-off from RWTH Aachen University by Dr Montgomery Jaritz and Benedikt Heuer.

Thanks to its patented technology, IonKraft offers an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional barrier packaging, which is difficult to recycle. Plasma-based coatings replace multi-layer materials and PFAS-containing solutions. This enables fully recyclable packaging with a high barrier effect, comparable to glass but shatterproof and chemically resistant. The technology enables companies to significantly reduce their environmental impact and the CO₂ footprint of their products.

IonKraft has set itself the goal of revolutionising the global packaging industry with fully circular packaging solutions. Over the past two years, the startup has successfully demonstrated the effectiveness of its coating technology for various applications with industrial partners.

WSS Redpoint has provided comprehensive advice to IonKraft on all legal matters since the spin-off. On the financing round, IonKraft was advised on behalf of WSS Redpoint by Peter Siedlatzek (corporate law) and Bonny Kern (IT law).
