Membion develops energy-efficient membrane filters for membrane bioreactors (MBR) used for water filtration in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. Modelled on seaweed, the membranes are fixed at one end only and therefore remain effective for longer, while the JetSplash® effect uses air and energy precisely where they are needed to flush the filters. The compact modules fit into existing plants and achieve greater filtration capacity in the same space. This reduces energy demand by up to 90% with less pre-treatment required.
